It's long, very epic and may not be safe for work in some places. Bust trust me it's one of the best damn things I saw on the Internet thus far.

Anyways if your wondering why I have not been Twittering or posting all that much lately it's because I'm renovating my house and have been for the last few weeks off and on when ever me and my friends have the time because we all have day jobs and the only real time we can work on it is if we have days off or the like. But we are about little over half way there and once it's largely finished I will show everybody pictures of my new house. We are thinking of moving my computer TV thing that I use in the living room in to the new one later today. So I can't wait for that.

Anyways I'm heading off to work some more of moving a few things out of the way then maybe moving the rig I'm using right now up there soon after.

Hi, I'm a Marvel...and I'm a DC

I think I just found my next thing to watch on YouTube when it comes to shorts. Thanks to @t_schiff it's another Mac and PC spoof but this time it's taking the superheros from both the Marvel & DC comic houses and they play off each outher and themselfs as well. The newest video that got posted makes fun of the subject of how Deadpool looks in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie with other things about it.

Protip: The real Deadpool makes an appearance in this video as well along with the Watchmen the only other superhero movie to come out this year to date.

Yea the way Deadpool in the new X-Men movie reminds me of the main character from God of War looks or one of the baddys from Megaman. Anyways here's anouther video of Deadpool this time anoying the hell out of Watchmen:

And one more video. This time Wolverine and Rorschach go at it again. And IMO the guy who does Rorschach's voice is not half bad:

Ah-nuld Schwarzenegger lights up... wow

This has got to be the most surprising thing I have ever saw on YouTube yet. In his past the now Governor of California lighted up and smoked a joint. Don't believe me take a look at exhibit A:

I rest my case. Now I may be over thinking this but it sounds like that Schwarzenegger is open now to making marijuana legal. I would not be surprised if this video helped along with this along with California being fucked up eight ways from Sunday with it's money that they are now looking at majorly cutting government spending just to try and save themselves. And also you can't overlook the fact that the GOP as a whole don't like Ah-nuld anymore because he did not drink as much of the Kool-Aid as the rest of them. Even though he did try and prove he was still one of the hardcore wingers by slummping for McCain last year.

So it looks like Arnold is going to try the one root just to try and save his job and go out on a "meh" note. He's in what I call "Aw fuck it!" mode. He's damned if he does and damned if he does not. Should be fun to watch. A lot more fun if that video makes it in somehow on the MSM.

Really Time that’s your pick?

Time gave their pick for Influential Person of 2009 (even though it's only May) to the creator of 4chan Christopher "Moot" Poole. It seams that Time is made up of people who are trying had to be relevant so they gave their honor of the year to a website that is considered by most sane people The Shittest Place on the Internet were only the Internet's rejects and asshole hackers hang out and figure out ways to "fuck with the program".

I really think if Time took the time and looked at the people who post on that site (and don't get me started about the /b/tards) they would be rethinking their choice. The USTR, a cabinet-level post, which has been making unpleasant noises in Canada’s direction for several years, placed Canada on a “Priority Watch List” today. Like around the Bush Admin years is when they really started bitching to Canada doing their song and dance about how this country “is a haven for piracy” and all that normal BS that are pressured by the copyright overlords to spew out on command. Even though the largely ironic thing is they give their Chinese masters a large pass because they own a majory of the USA already. They are on this list too but the USA are pusses to the Asians over this crap.

The stuff they have outlined of what they want Canada to do to “help” (read: getting fucked by them to being an obedient little sub division country of the USA) them goes from the stupid to outright pointless that most people in Canada will put a fight up and make a lot of saber noise against our government if they decide to bend over and take it. That it’s very highly likely they will do that because just about everybody in Canada knows the Right likes to be butt buddies with corporations for one reason or another. Anyways here’s the stuff they have listed out what they want Canada to do and I’m also going to give some facts on it as well on why it will be a fail on their part.

• Enact legislation outlawing game circumvention devices, such as “mod chips” and “game copiers,” in line with Canada’s international treaty obligations

This is the rule that those fuckers from the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) have been trying to push in every country for a long time. Even though they don’t address the fact that even their own company’s they lobby for uses in modified ways like did you know that The Sonic Collection on Windows runs a modified version of Gens under the hood? So what the ESA wants is a pile of failboat right there and they should not even be taken seriously. They are a self-serving organization that needs to sputter and die, as well as the RIAA and MPAA. Only good thing they have going for them is fighting the stupid’s of gaming like Jack Thompson and idiot lawmakers. Other then that they are captain of failboat.

• Create adequate legal incentives for internet service providers (ISPs) to work with copyright owners in combating online piracy

I’m surprised they are trying this again. If I had to guess who asked for this it would be the RIAA & MPAA. The story goes a few years ago they tried this and asked all of the major ISP’s of Canada for IP Addresses of their users/customers browsing habits. All but one ISP said no and told the AA’s to GTFO and quit waiting our time. And that was that. So I’m kind of surprised that these AA douchbags would try this again even though they got told off by everybody but VideoTron (the one who willingly gave their users information to the AA’s) and even posted what happened on their company websites as a well like a well earned badge of awesome. I would not be surprised that if the same result comes again.

• Provide Customs officials with adequate authority to make ex officio seizures of counterfeit and pirate product at the border; and, provide adequate resources to anti-piracy enforcement efforts and make prosecution of intellectual property crimes a high priority.

The first part I really have no problem with but the 2nd part is very funny to say the lest. The RCMP (Canada’s FBI that does police work as well) of all people went on record not too long ago and said they will not be willing to help the copyright holders with their problems. And I understand were they are coming from they have more pressing issues to deal with like dealing with terrorists for example then dealing with what some corporation wants.

The Special 301 Report is entirely driven by the corporate lobbyists and lacks and dissenting voices of reason outside of US copyright special interest groups. Hopefully the Members or Parliament will listen the voices and concerns of their constituents and not the US corporate lobbyists who have the power of the media and press releases at their disposal.

And if you really want to get down to how this happened you can blame Obama’s VP pick Joe Biden. Why you may ask? Well it can do with the fact that Biden is a DMCA loving, bought and paid for, Vice President to come into power to do this and it only took 101 days to do this. Hell he was one of the major voices behind getting the DMCA passed back in the Clinton era. And I had a feeling in the back of my mind his copyright cartel masters were going to come back to him sooner or later before he became VP and ask him to do a few more favors on their behalf before he got in to office were he would be out of their reach for the most part.

Tell you what, US Government you start paying the taxes on the softwood lumber properly that you owe us, we'll be willing to listen to you. If not GTFO out of our countries affairs and stop trying to tell us how to run our country don’t you have your own problems to deal with from King Chimpy and his Doughy Pantload Crew friends left you to clean up after them Obama? Hey yea I think you do. Let’s see: Two wars, massive job loss and your dollar is not what it used to be. The last one my friends and me are making a killing on buying stuff online and the like.

By the way on a somewhat related note when I posted about this on my Twitter. A GOoPer decided to take a cheap shot on Obama’s cabinet in a replay to me. I burned his ass that he needs Vicks now. :) Anyways I got to head off now. I hope that the Government here does not pay attention to what the US says over this and hear more to the worries of the people. But somehow I doubt that. This is Harper I’m talking about a pro corporation bastard who would gladly sell this country down the river to the highest bidder for money.

I Like to Watch

Normally when I’m not gaming or at work I’m watching stuff… A LOT of stuff. Mind you it’s not TV that I watch I gave up on that medium for the most part aside things from the National Geographic Channel. Before you would find me tuned in to YTV on Friday nights watching round half of their anime block and the like but YTV started to screw around with their shows and got rid of most of their anime shows aside from that bastard anime Naruto that even then it sucks quite bad and the manga is worse.

What they replaced most of the anime with you may ask? I will tell you a shit load of crappy Made in Canada programming geared to tweens & early teens. And trust me most of the stuff for the TV were I live sucks hard and there have been very few exceptions to the rule. Most of it is put on the air just for a station to fill a rule set out by the broadcasting arm of the government called the CRTC for protecting Canada Identity or some BS line they always say. Even though most people in Canada these days (mostly the young) want to see the CRTC scrapped and done over or very nuttered to the point they behave more like the US’s FCC. Because they control not just TV but also cell phones and anything that has a communication link as well they are from the 60’s mind you and back then the stupid era of Canadians were scared of losing their identity to the juggernaut that was known as US culture. And thanks to the Internet they CRTC has lost this battle these days. In fact to me Canada is England but with US cars and mostly World culture.

I discovered a lot content on the Internet and today I’m going to show some of the best in my mind that goes beyond just downloading TV shows, anime & movies. This will be more like a top 5 list because there’s a lot and these are the best of the best to me. So lets start:

5. Clip Critics

This web show makes fun of a lot of different types of entertainment from movies to video games and even YouTube celebs like the very annoying and pointless Fred to even (a few times at his expense) Kevin Nauts and Hollywood performers. And they also use a very neat style to portray the characters that is unique in it’s own right in my view that is clearly Photoshop and After Effects but done very slick. If I would need to pick a favorite video they did it’s a tie between the interview they did with Christian Bale and the music video called F*cking Gary Busey.

4. Red State Update

Another from YouTube. Now normally I stay the hell away from politics for the most part because all of them no matter what part of the world your in are all a bunch of self serving scumbags. Case in point I love it when people make fun of government types. Enter Jackie & Dunlap of Red State Update. Done from the view of very right-wing rednecks they poke fun at just about everybody both on the Left and the Right and even other things like Sexting for example.

3. The Leet World

I tried to get in to Machinima before with Red vs. Blue but had no luck with it in part because those assholes put around 95% of the episodes they made behind a pay wall so it was like screw that. Then I found about a month and a half ago a new Machinima called The Leet World. I will let the show’s tag line explain.

In The Leet World, a Machinima based in Counter-Strike: Source, 4 CT’s and 4 T’s are placed in a house together and we see what happens when they stop being noobs… and start acting leet!

The show is not just funny but very well written and even has a few moments that are just flat out mind screws or want to make the viewer find out more from it’s cliffhangers like what the 2nd season is in the middle of right now before the cast and crew went on brake.

2. ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com

Now I know I’m cheating here because this is not just a single show I have in the 2 spot it’s a whole damn website. Started by Doug Walker back when he was on YouTube with his character the Nostalgia Critic he would review old movies and TV shows from starting around the 90’s going back. He takes a part these movies that most of them are quite bad in fact and makes fun of them and also gives some insightful notes on the things about the topic he’s talking about.

But soon enough YouTube became Google’s bitch and in turn had to pull off the “offending” videos and even a few times ban his accounts. After figuring out that YouTube sucks when it comes to making fun of stuff when your using copyrighted stuff in a fair use way. He made his own website and went on from there with his Nostalgia Critic reviews and even made a few different shows as well like Bum Reviews. Soon enough he got a lot more comedians that there are too much to list here to join the site as well. So there’s something for everybody.

1. Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged Series

I know I’m cheating again but this was the show that introduced me to two things. Web shows and Abridged Series. Started by LittleKuriboh on YouTube for the longest time before he got his stuff banned quite a lot of times before making his own site to host his videos. All of his videos have Post Modernism and a lot of references to different things like pop culture, Internet culture and at times makes references to very obscure things that most people would not know unless they had Wikipedia & Urban Dictionary by their side.

Now that should give you an idea of what I watch and with stuff like this who really needs TV? Now I’m off to play some Effing Hail. Until next time.

Why do Canadiens want the Kindle again?

When Amazon can do this with them anytime they like.

That is all.

Wow. Honesty is not always the best policy. Or why marketing is the 8th Circle of Hell.

Today I’m kind of pissed off. I had everything ready for this Thursday of what was going to happen that night. It’s been hyped up for the last few days maybe close to the last two weeks. I’m talking about the first pack of the Saints Row 2 DLC.

Note the date it says on the end of the trailer of April 16, 2009. Well just a few hours ago Joystiq reports that the first pack of the Saints Row 2 DLC has been delayed for a week until the 23rd of this month. Now in this era of gaming this is quite normal of getting games or their DLC delayed for a few weeks from the date it said on the ad. Normally they do this because they feel they need to add some polish to the game/add-on or they found a very fatal bug that can screw things up very bad.

But being the sleuth I am I did some digging and I found out through the Saints Row 2 forms that the delay is not from any problems with the game but and you would not believe this if I tell you. THQ’s marketing team had the brightest idea of pushing the SR2 DLC back a week because on the 23rd as well they had a demo for their newest game coming out called Red Faction: Guerrilla and Saints Row two has two things from their newest Red Faction game as part of the DLC: The EDF Armor & The EDF Scout (an armored Pontiac Aztek looking SUV with a multi-target rocket launcher on the roof).

The reason why this other game matters is because according to their community manager after a few handful of posts of people wondering why the DLC was delayed he said that the marketing team of THQ thought it would be a grand idea to “wanted to sync them up so gamers can experience both quality Volition titles”. What. The. Fuck. Do they know how bullshit and FUBAR that idea is?

It looks like what those glue sniffers that makes up THQ’s marketing team were thinking is they were going to try and give Red Faction: Guerrilla free advertisement using a game they already had out that has a few elements from the new game. And as expected and like clockwork everybody is rightfully pissed off now about the real reason of why the DLC is not coming out. I say rightfully because even though it’s another week added of waiting everybody was promised this thing since December of last fucking year and we are now in mid April and it looks like we need to wait until basically of the end of the month now.

I really think marketing is the 8th Circle of Hell. I somewhat sat in a meeting at work of most of the companies marketing people when I was installing the new video teleconference system for the meeting room. And my God it sounds like marketing is nothing more then a glam way of ripping off the poor sucker for maximum profit with little value for The Mark who is buying the goods. Then again if you knew were I worked just about everybody who comes to my store is an uniformed dumbass who is asking to get his ass ripped off via cheap Chinese crap 8 ways from Sunday.

Anyways I’m being debatable if I want to keep the money for next week when the DLC does come out or spend it on one of the DLC packs for Burnout Paradise. More then likely I’m going to spend it now and get the last 5 bucks off the “MasterCard” after 10 days (Sony is weird like that) and head back to the 7-11 and get a new card closer to the time when the “true” release date of the DLC comes out.

I’m going to end this session now with a quote from The Row forms were I found out the true story and it’s quite QFT (Quoted for Truth) in regards how screwed up this. Later on.

"Wow. Honesty is not always the best policy. If I were you I totally would have just made up a reason like 'Oh yeah, there were bugs. We're fixing them.' There would have been like half-or maybe two thirds-as much bitching.

But hey, maybe you guys put the Ronin jacket in there, and maybe this whole thing never happened. Delay? What delay? I didn't hear about any delay. The 16th? I don't know what you're talking about. It was always set for the 23rd."

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jaredavery.blogspot.com/2009/04/wow-honesty-is-not-always-best-policy.html' title='Wow. A time that normally has something to do with Jesus Christ in someway. I did not pay attention in Sunday school that much so I do not know anymore. But what just about everybody knows about Easter the most is we get a whole ass load of candy and a few pounds of chocolate blocks molded in to bunny’s that if you try and take a bite out of it you will almost for a fact brake your teeth or feel like your going to.

I know from experience about that even though I don’t get free candy anymore but that’s not stopping me from going out to the shop I work at on Good Monday next week and buying a large amount of the stock they have for cheap and be set for life in terms of candy and chocolate. So anyways today I’m going to spend my Easter Weekend watching Gunsmith Cats, Golgo 13 and any other anime that comes to mind. And play a lot of video games too.

I was going to play Unreal Tournament III all day today as well but the Mods for the PS3 game are so bloody janky at times that the game soft crashes or stops working that I got to restart the system so I deleted the master system file that it installs the mods to and some of the system files for the game are installed. You can also install the game to the hard drive as well but the game is already quite fast running off the disk for loading the arena’s so it’s kind of a moot point there.

I really hope that roomer of the first Perfect Dark for XBLA does comes true because I would be playing that on my XBox 360 almost nonstop because on the N64 I would play that for hours on end for both the single player (the cheats make this mode repayable quite a bit) and the multiplayer is a whole other game in the game. And this game was one of Rare’s best games (along with GoldenEye that no matter how much people bitch about wanting it it’s not coming so STFU) before Nintendo and the Stamper Bros. sold their shares in the company and Microsoft bough them and soon after Rare has been putting out stuff between uninspired crap (Nuts & Bolts) and quite mediocre (Perfect Dark Zero) so if Perfect Dark does come out it will people a wake up call that Rare was good in it’s past and it would also be a major selling point for the 360 aside from it’s very sickly overhyped other FPS Halo.

Anyways I’m off to watch Gunsmith Cats and maybe play the meh game Mercenaries 2. Until next time.

Why do most of all programs cost money on the Mac?

Late last year I bought myself a Mac. I had a $1000 Windows Vista laptop for about a year before (a very nice hardware spec Sony VIAO laptop) because for two things I wanted to replace that aging Windows XP workhorse desktop I have had since I bought my first computer and two I wanted to see what the big fuss was about Vista.

Boy did I get the full new OS treatment from Microsoft's newest OS entry. For the first few months everything was largely fine. Did not have any major problems with Vista aside from UAC (User Account Control) that I turned right off after a few weeks because I worked on Windows since Windows 98 so I knew what the hell I was doing with it.

Fast forward to about close to a year later and I start having major issues with Vista. It changes my viewing settings that I set up how to look at files every few days to what it likes without even telling me. It cannot run Unreal Tournament 3 at all. It can only get past the splash screen before it crash quits on me and some other nasty stuff it does as well. And yes it was system updated fully too.

So close to the year I bought it on (Aug. 2008) I decided I had enough. I use my fatty external hard drive and off load all of my data and then I take this hunk of junk to my buddy's place were I was going to get it a proper send off. He has a lot of different types of weapons. I gear up and pick my pieces from his weapons locker. I took his Airsoft XM8 rifle (don’t ask it was custom made), his Airsoft MP5, an Airsoft Desert Eagle (gold plated) and for up close encounters I took his biggest & longest katana (it was 68” long) and his metal bat because I was feeling like doing something out the printer seen from Office Space after I unloaded. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about watch this video:

I know it's not the real thing (you know how YouTube is) but it gives you an idea of what I did to the laptop in the end. And for fun I took it to a computer chop shop were they not only build computers but they also take broken ones in and strip them down for parts like RAM. The owner the shop offered me a $500 laptop that had Windows XP on it. At this point I just wanted a laptop that worked right so I went along with it and got a new laptop.

But I still needed a new desktop. This is the time when I started to research Apple’s computers. And that’s how I found the Mac Mini. It was the cheapest in Apples line that did not cost the poor bastard an arm and a leg to own. And it was also good for two things. Introducing me to OS X that I last used when I was back in school way before Apple made the switch to Intel and also I wanted a computer for the living room so I can watch the stuff I watch on BitTorrent on a real wide screen TV instead of a small screen.

So far I like the OS X experience. It far outperforms Windows on any day of the week and makes things simple to understand for errors. But there is one major nag I have with Mac’s and it’s not the whole transplanting from Windows thing. I largely got over that fast in under a week. It’s the software that chaps my ass. Not the lack of it but how much a lot of it is priced. There are not a lot of free good free apps for the Mac and if there is they are few in between.

Just now I was looking for a desktop side client for Blogger and either one of two things happened: I either got a link for a shareware program that would expire or if I did find a free client the clownshoes who compiled the Zip file would compile it wrong so it would be unusable. I did get a free client in the form of a Firefox add-on called ScribeFire and that’s what I’m going to use for now.

And I noticed that any real decent programs for the Mac they expect money out of you. I never had that problem on Windows in my life there are lost of free programs for that OS that in quite a few cases out feature the pay product. On Mac I noticed is either most of the time nothing, pay for it after a trial or in some rare cases hack it. I also think this has something to do with the Mac still not being a real platform to most people and I can see were most people will not touch a Mac: the price.

But that’s a rant for another day like why Apple updates the Mac Mini and still charges the same price for the old Intel one even though it’s not a major update (wow one extra USB port, updated Firewire, a new proprietary plug for your new LCD displays and a new processer engine). Worst yet looks like Nintendo is starting to smoke from the same pipe as Apple with their DSi that just came out this week.

I don’t know why the Mac community likes to charge 30 bucks for a simple desktop side blog client. I guess they think under the idea that since people spent over one G to buy a Mac they will have no problems paying for programs that most of them already have a free clone of themselves on the rival OS.

But not me unless it’s something that’s very useful like this past MacHeist it’s not worth it over all. I rather find the free clone of a program before I do stuff like hack the hell out of the code to get it to think I paid for it. Or if the free one blows like the time I tried OpenOffice.org (works good but the spellchecker can not hold a candle to MS Offices version IMO) then I will consider paying for it or hacking it up.

Now I’m off to watch Zack & Miri make a Porno. Until next time.

Hello World

Jared's World is now on the air.
